Residence Life Advisor – Temporary

  • Shift rota (with some out of hours)
  • £15.43 per our and £25.00 per hour (out of hours)
  • Temp initially until end of July

 

Working on behalf of our client we are resourcing for an experienced Residence Life Advisor to assist with general residence work and activities to support the services for summer. Working as part of a team you will provide a pastoral service for students in Residential Accommodation, 3rd Party Providers and Private Sector Housing. You will work as part of the ‘On Call’ management team rota to provide out of office hours and weekends support to students, third party provider and private sector and to respond to emergencies when access to other services is restricted. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

        Help safeguard, support and monitor students in residencies and the private sector by undertaking: drop-in support sessions, flat mediations and other activities.

        To respond to and support students to access Wellbeing services, counselling and mental health services with appropriate external bodies.

        Promote a sense of community for all students, through organisation of a Residence Life Program, planning and organizing events and activities i.e., Welcome Events, intramural and community activities.

        Engage with collaborative projects and initiatives, which promote affinity with the to create a sense of belonging and enable personal growth through a positive residence life experience.

        To monitor and report on welfare and discipline issues and ensure procedures are followed in line with policy reporting any matters of concern to the Residence Life Manager.

        Utilize information and contacts required to provide up to date advice and assistance to specialist support resources available as well as appropriate external resources for health and welfare concerns.

        Carry out investigations including, interviewing residents, staff and others, evaluate and administer disciplinary regulations up to and including breaches of regulations.

        Assist with preparing and administering major disciplinary hearings.

        Evaluate and make recommendations to line manager concerning resident complaints and requests to change room locations or contract.

        Carry out plans and arrangements to provide support for students during major loss of service or emergency event. 

        Promote good neighbourliness within and those sharing houses etc. in the private sector, through provision of mediations, anti-noise campaigns, communal living workshops and other activities.

        Carry out induction talks to groups of students.

        Organise and coordinate the contribution and activities of the Residence Life Assistants, including Recruitment, Induction training. working hour’s rotas, time sheets

        Monitor staff performance and attendance levels reporting any concerns to Residence Life Manager
